COVID-19 Notice
It is the intention and goal of the organizing authority to hold this event as scheduled. As everyone can recognize, the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing and many travel restrictions have been in place for some time. Although the latest information received indicates improvements, the situation remains dynamic. Neither ILCA nor the event host can guarantee entry into the country for any competitor. It is up to each potential competitor to evaluate his or her personal situation and make logistical and financial decisions about their ability to participate and the possible risks involved.
Specified in the Notice of Race: After entry applications are opened and until the start of the event the organizing authority will monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic or other potential disruptions to the event and, having regard for the health and safety of all participants as well as any government travel restrictions or government mandated conditions on gatherings that affect participation in or conduct of the event, may at its sole discretion:
– Postpone or cancel the event,
– Change the status of the event from a World Championship to an International Regatta,
– Alter the maximum number of entries,
– Reduce a country’s allocated number of places,
– Make any other decision deemed necessary in the circumstances.
Important Message from the former Event Hosts in Weymouth, UK
The UK Government has recently revised the quarantine requirements for visitors travelling to the UK under the traffic light system designating countries either Green, Amber or Red. For details please go to www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#stay-up-to-date
In view of the additional time and cost that many will have to incur, both on entering the UK and returning home and the ongoing uncertainty regarding travel restrictions, it is with considerable regret the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA), in consultation with ILCA, have agreed to withdraw as hosts of the 2021 U21 ILCA World Championships. This decision has been taken to significantly improve the probability of the event going ahead and remaining as accessible as possible. WPNSA would like to express their appreciation to all those who have applied to participate or volunteer their time to help with the organisation and delivery of the championship. ILCA and WPNSA will continue to work towards the aim of hosting future championships when dates become available.
– Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy Please check the ILCA event website regularly for further updates as more information becomes available.
