– Message from the Masters Coordinator EurILCA –
All,
Feedback I received from some in Europe is concern around taking boats into the UK due to Brexit.  I have now travelled from Poole / Cherbourg & Dover / Calais and I had no issues at all – just collecting lots of entry / exit stamps in my passport.  On all trips the boat was only half full and so the queuing we have all heard about has now gone.  My understanding is that issues arise if you bring ribs when a carnet will be required.
Master sailors face competition for their time across family, work and sailing but I would not wish concern over travel to be the reason that people do not attend the UKLA Master Nationals / EMS at Stokes Bay 1-3 July.  This is a fantastic venue where camping / campervans will be allowed in the field next to the club’s boat park – booked directly with the club.
Please can you promote this message to Master sailors in your District.  It is the weekend before the German EMS and a great training opportunity for those thinking of attending there.  Stokes Bay is the weekend after La Baule for the French EMS event where sailors competing in both the FRA and GBR EMS events automatically enter the Brexit Cup with prizes available.  The EurILCA website also has details of discounted ferries through Brittany Ferries.
The UKLA event registration system requires sailors to set up a profile before completing their registration.  If anyone has problems they can contact me in the first instance or the UKLA class secretary on office@ilca.uk who works part time.
Thank you
Alan Davis
